CODE OF CONDUCT

1. Objective and Scope
This code of conduct aims to ensure a safe, respectful and pleasant environment at Genius PT, located in Sydney. It applies to all users (members, guests and staff) within the facilities. Entry to the gym implies acceptance of these rules, which complement the membership terms and conditions signed.

2. General Behaviour and Mutual Respect
  • Treat others (peers and trainers) with respect, courtesy and dignity at all times.
  • Use appropriate language, avoiding insults, offensive or discriminatory expressions. Harassment, intimidation or bullying behavior toward any person will not be tolerated.
  • Follow the instructions of gym staff promptly and kindly. Staff are authorized to call attention or ask someone to leave if their behavior puts harmony or safety at risk.
  • Maintain a positive and camaraderie attitude: the gym is a community space where everyone shares health goals. Cooperation and good sportsmanship are expected.

3. Safety and Hygiene
  • Prioritise personal and others safety. Perform exercises with proper technique; if you have doubts, ask an instructor for help. Avoid reckless behavior that could cause injuries.
  • Use personal towel at all times: place it on machines or mats when using them, and use it to wipe your sweat. After using any equipment, clean/disinfect it with the towels or spray provided, leaving the apparatus ready for the next user.
  • Re-rack weights and return dumbbells, barbells, plates and other accessories to their corresponding place after use. This prevents accidents and maintains order. For example, place weights on designated supports according to their size/color, and store mats or balls on indicated shelves.
  • Do not train if you are sick (fever, flu or other contagious condition). Out of consideration for others, in those cases rest at home until you recover.
  • Maintain personal hygiene: use deodorant, clean clothes, and it is recommended to wash hands or use antibacterial gel frequently (especially when changing equipment).
  • In case of a medical emergency of your own or that you observe in another person, notify your trainer or staff immediately. Our team is trained in first aid and we have response procedures.

4. Clothing and Belongings
  • Enter with appropriate sports clothing. Closed athletic shoes (sneakers) are required to protect feet; training barefoot or in sandals is not permitted. Clothing must allow safe exercise; avoid clothing with metal elements or too loose that could get caught in machines.
  • Clothing with offensive messages or images that may make other users uncomfortable is not permitted. Staff may request a change of clothing if they consider it violates this rule.
  • Use the lockers available to store your belongings while training. Do not leave personal objects lying around in the machine area or hallways, to avoid tripping. Genius PT is not responsible for lost or stolen objects on the premises, except when the loss is due to proven negligence on our part. It is recommended not to bring unnecessary valuables.
  • Lockers are for daily use; please empty your locker when leaving each day. Any lock left from one day to another may be removed by management.

5. Use of Equipment and Training Areas
  • Correct use of machines and free weights: Follow the instructions given by the gym through its staff or trainers for each equipment.
  • It is prohibited to drop or throw weights abruptly against the floor, whether in the free weight area or during group classes. This can damage equipment and represents a risk to you and others. Use mats or ask for assistance if you handle very heavy weights.
  • Take care of the facilities: do not lean plates or objects against mirrors or walls; use the designated supports and racks. Any damage caused intentionally or by misuse of equipment may result in charges to the responsible party for the cost of repair or replacement.
  • Report immediately to your trainer or staff if you notice that a machine, apparatus or structure is damaged, loose or malfunctioning. Your report could prevent accidents and helps us provide timely maintenance.

6. Group Classes
  • Punctuality: Arrive with sufficient time before class to register, set up your equipment (e.g. steps, mats, bars) and warm up if necessary. Out of respect for the instructor and your classmates, if class has already started, late entry may not be permitted.
  • Follow the instructor's directions at all times. Pay attention during class and avoid distractions (for example, silence your phone).
  • Shared space: in full classes, be aware of space so as not to hit others with movements or equipment.
  • Use of the group studio/room outside established class hours is not permitted without authorization. Also do not use class equipment (e.g. light dumbbells, yoga mats) on your own outside of class without permission; these materials are for use in guided sessions.
  • If you use class equipment (weights, mats, etc.), return it to its place when finishing the session, unless the instructor indicates otherwise. Everyone's collaboration keeps the room tidy for the next activity.

7. Personal Training
  • All training at Genius PT is conducted on a 1-on-1 basis with a personal trainer. Personal training services are provided exclusively through external certified trainers assigned by gym management.
  • Members cannot choose their personal trainer; assignments will be made by gym management based on availability and the specific needs of each member. The assigned trainer will be determined by management according to scheduling availability and the trainer's specialization that best matches your fitness goals.

8. Children and Minors
  • The minimum age to use the gym is 14 years. Young people aged 14 to 17 must have written authorization from their parents/guardian, and in some cases (determined by management) be supervised by an adult while training.
  • Entry of non-member children just to accompany is not permitted, except in designated areas (example: daycare, if that service is offered). For safety reasons, children cannot wander in the weight room or class rooms while their parents train.
  • All users, regardless of age, must behave according to this code of conduct. Any minor who violates it will be warned and, if serious or persistent, their parents will be notified and they could lose the right to train.

9. Special Areas and Services
  • Changing rooms: Use these areas in an orderly manner and with respect for others privacy. Taking photographs or videos in changing rooms is prohibited. Be careful with your belongings; use lockers here too if possible.
  • Stretching area/functional zone: Share space and implements (e.g. medicine balls, bands) courteously. Avoid blocking hallways with your exercise.
  • Nutrition and supplements: If you consume drinks or supplements in the gym, make sure they are in closed containers and dispose of them properly in trash cans. Alcohol consumption is prohibited inside the gym and obviously illegal drugs or substances. Any member under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be expelled immediately for safety.
  • Water bottles are permitted (we recommend staying hydrated), and sports drinks in capped containers. Full meals are not permitted on the training floor.

10. Electronic Devices and Privacy
  • Out of respect for privacy, do not take photographs or record videos of other people in the gym without their express authorization. This includes not making live broadcasts that may capture others without their consent. Staff may ask you to delete improperly taken images and/or ask you to leave if you violate this rule.
  • It is prohibited to take photos or videos in changing rooms or bathrooms under any circumstances (this may be grounds for immediate membership cancellation).
  • If you take photos or videos of yourself for your personal tracking, try to do so in non-congested areas and without invading others' comfort. When in doubt, consult staff.
  • Keep your phone on silent mode in the training room. If you need to answer a call, do so briefly and outside the exercise areas so as not to distract others.
  • Use headphones for personal music; playing audio on speaker or shouting phone conversations is not permitted.
  • Social media: If you tag the gym or interact on our pages, we ask you to maintain a respectful tone. Any online conduct that harasses, intimidates or discredits other members or staff could be considered a violation of the code of conduct (we have a zero tolerance policy for cyberbullying in our community).

11. Complementary and Legal Rules
  • Compliance with laws: In addition to this code of conduct, all users must comply with applicable laws. Smoking is prohibited inside the gym and within a 4-meter radius of entrances, in accordance with local legislation. Any illegal act on our premises is also prohibited (for example, use or distribution of prohibited substances, assaults, etc.), which will be reported to the relevant authorities.
  • Membership contracts: This code of conduct should be read together with your Membership Contract and other policies signed with Genius PT. Aspects such as payments, freezing or cancellation of membership, trial periods and other contractual details are specified in those documents. In case of conflict, contractual terms will prevail, provided they do not contravene the law. If you require clarification about your contractual rights or obligations, you may consult us at any time.

12. Sanctions and Disciplinary Procedure
  • Non-compliance with any of the preceding rules may result in disciplinary measures, to be determined by gym Management according to the severity of the case. These measures may include:
  • Verbal warning and guidance on the violated rule (first instance or minor infractions).
  • Written warning recorded in your profile/membership (recurrences or moderate infractions).
  • Temporary suspension of your membership and right of admission to the gym for a determined period (according to the infraction, e.g. 1 week), without refund for unused time.
  • Membership termination (expulsion) and ban from entering the facilities, in serious cases or persistent non-compliance. This extreme measure will be taken, for example, for violent conduct, serious harassment, theft/vandalism, drug use on premises, or repeated violations after previous warnings. Membership cancellation for disciplinary reasons may imply loss of fees paid in advance, as stipulated in the contract and law.
  • In all cases, before imposing a serious sanction, Management will seek to investigate the facts, listen to the involved party and any witnesses, and document the situation fairly.
  • Any member has the right to file a complaint or report an incident to staff (e.g. if they were a victim or witness of someone's misconduct). We will take all complaints seriously and act according to this code of conduct and internal conflict resolution policy.
  • If you receive a sanction and consider it was unfair, you may appeal in writing to Management within 7 days of being notified of the sanction. Your case will be reviewed and you will be informed of the final decision in writing.

13. Validity and Review
This code of conduct takes effect from the date of implementation and will be permanently visible in the gym (sign at reception) for consultation by all. A copy is also given to each new member in the welcome package.
Management may update these rules periodically to adapt them to new legal provisions or operational improvements. Any changes will be notified to members (via registered email and bulletin board) with at least 30 days' advance notice.
We appreciate everyone's collaboration in complying with this code of conduct. Together we will maintain an environment where respect, health and fellowship predominate, making Genius PT an optimal place to achieve your fitness goals.
